Creating resources for common ground
Families are at the heart of a healthy society. Yet millions of American families lack access to affordable childcare, paid family leave, and other supports needed to keep themselves and their loved ones healthy. Addressing these social challenges through public policy requires broad coalitions that cross partisan and religious lines. The Families Valued project - launched at the Center for Public Justice in 2018 - created a relational, intellectual, and theological foundation for diverse Christian leaders to join forces and contribute to public advocacy for paid family leave, emergency work and family support during COVID, pregnant worker protections, and improvements in maternal health. The project developed agenda-setting research reports, facilitated learning retreats and working groups, and developed a media strategy to bring new and important voices into the public conversation about pro-family policy.
